Varsity Football Shutdown in East Hampton

For the first time in nearly 50 years, the East Hampton High School football program will not field a varsity team. East Hampton Athletic Director Joe Vasile-Cozzo this week confirmed that the program, with just 20 players from grades 9-11 committed for next season, will compete only at the middle school and junior varsity levels in 2014.

Stony Brook Too Strong for Pierson in Class C Final

Ultimately, the Stony Brook boys basketball team had too much of everything for the Whalers to contend. Too much size. Too much speed. Too much depth. Too much talent.

As a result, the Bears cruised to the Suffolk County Class C Championship at Longwood High School on Saturday afternoon with a convincing 63-36 win over Pierson.

Bridgehampton Bows Out Against Greenport

Bridgehampton’s sophomore forward limped from the locker room on one good leg, just like Reed did 44 years ago when he led the New York Knicks to a championship by winning Game 7 of the NBA finals.
Playing at Greenport in a Suffolk County Class D semifinal Wednesday night, Lamison crumpled to the floor early in the second quarter and had to be carried off with what seemed like a game-ending ankle injury.
But with the Killer Bees trailing by two points at halftime, Lamison returned in the third quarter and played the entire second half, limping up and down the floor as he, too, nearly led his team to victory.

Bonac Swim Team Wins Prestigious Award

The East Hampton/Pierson/Bridgehampton boys swim team was the recipient of the 2013-2014 Section XI Sportsmanship Award, an honor that was announced during last Friday’s League II Championship meet at Hauppauge High School.

Bridgehampton Lives to Fight Another Day

The Bridgehampton boys basketball team will open the 2014 Section XI basketball playoffs with a Suffolk County Class D semifinal at Greenport High School on Wednesday, February 12 at 6 p.m. The winner will advance to play either Smithtown Christian or Shelter Island in the Class D championship game at Longwood High School on Saturday at 12 noon.

Bridgehampton Falls To Greenport Leaving Playoff Berth in Doubt

The Bridgehampton boys basketball team lost, 68-64, in a thriller against rival Greenport Thursday night as the Killer Bees let a 17-point first-half lead slip away on their home court. The loss was especially hurtful since it guarantees that Bridgehampton will finish below the .500 mark against League VIII competition, which is required for an automatic berth in the Class D postseason.
