Bees Still Perfect with Tough Stretch Ahead

Across eight state championship seasons, there has never been an undefeated boys basketball team at Bridgehampton. The current crop of Killer Bees kept that hope alive with an 86-72 victory over Southold on Thursday, January 15, that improved the team’s overall record to a perfect 11-0 for the season.

Tabasso Honored by Teammates

Pierson freshman Max Tabasso, a member of the East Hampton boys swimming team, was named Swimmer of the Meet in the Bonackers’ 62-56 win over North Babylon last Tuesday, January 13. Tabasso swam in his first event of the season, a 50-yard freestyle as a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Every day he goes to work, Eric Bramoff straddles two separate but entirely connected communities. One of them is in Bridgehampton, where he works as a physical education teacher and director of athletics. The other is his hometown of Sag Harbor, where in the mid-1990s he starred as a three-sport athlete at Pierson.

Dawson Scores 31 to Lead Lady Whalers in Victory

It was Nia Dawson’s moment to shine Thursday in her home gym at the Bee Hive, and oh how she grabbed the spotlight.

The sophomore guard from Bridgehampton who competes as a member of the Pierson-Bridgehampton girls basketball team, scored a career-high 31 points to lead the Lady Whalers to a 57-42 win over Wyandanch. The game was billed as a “home” game for the Lady Whalers, but it was Dawson making it clear early on that it was her house, and her house alone, for one night only.

A sleepy Pierson High School gymnasium was snapped out of the winter vacation doldrums on Saturday by a raucous boys basketball game between cross-town rivals.

The afternoon meeting between Pierson and unbeaten Bridgehampton turned into a matinee classic. But despite a lively home crowd, the Whalers fell to the visiting Killer Bees for the second time this season as Bridgehampton escaped with a 52-47 victory that kept their perfect season intact.
