The Great East End Cleanup, an effort to remove litter and debris from public areas throughout Southampton Town, will take place on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27.
This year Southampton Town Councilwoman Christine P. Scalera will coordinate the cleanup, taking over from former Councilman Chris Nuzzi who spearheaded the event for the past eight years.
The Great East End Cleanup targets roadsides, trails, parks and public beaches in Southampton Town. Last year more than 600 volunteers removed 55.5 tons of litter and debris including half a ton of metal that was sorted for recycling.
“The Great East End Clean Up has become an annual tradition that many of our residents look forward to and I am excited to be a part of it for 2014,” said Ms. Scalera.
