Thiele for Assembly

Posted on 29 October 2010

When it comes to endorsement for State Assembly, it’s no contest. Fred Thiele is our man.

Thiele is a Sag Harbor native, so we know he understands the issues in this small town. While his opponent, Richard Blumenthal, made a big deal of the fact that Thiele also earns income as a lawyer by contracting his services to Sag Harbor Village, it’s not an issue that bothers us. In this political arena, it seems there are a lot bigger things out there to worry about than that.

It’s not that we didn’t like Blumenthal. He seems like a nice guy and, as a former educator seems genuinely concerned and very knowledgeable about education issues in the state.

But no one serves the East End like Fred Thiele. From the creation of environmental initiatives like the Community Preservation Fund, to spearheading the saving of the former Southampton College campus, Thiele’s got our back. He’s also not afraid to take on a fight, and has proved to be a fierce, well spoken and vocal champion of issues that matter to us. We could have no better ally doing battle for us in Albany. For that reason, we strongly recommend that voters keep him there.
