Army Corps, NYSDEC to Unveil Montauk Proposal

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will present a proposed emergency beach stabilization project for downtown Montauk at a special East Hampton Town Board meeting on Wednesday, April 23, at 1 p.m.

Steve Couch, the chief of the Army Corps’ coastal section of the New York District, and Susan McCormick, the chief of the DEC’s Coastal Erosion Management Section and Bureau of Flood Protection and Dam Safety, will be among the presenters.

The public will have an opportunity to pose questions to the Army Corps about the project.

U.S. Representative Tim Bishop, State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr. and Suffolk County Legislator Jay Schneiderman have also been invited to attend.
