East Hampton Democrats to Host Montauk Forum

Posted on 18 July 2013

The East Hampton Democratic candidates for supervisor and town board will be holding a Montauk Community “Listen In” Issues Forum on July 29.  The event will be held at Gurney’s Inn in Montauk at 6:45 p.m.

Supervisor Candidate Larry Cantwell will chair the meeting, which the candidates hope will be an opportunity for residents throughout the community to express their thoughts and concerns about living in Montauk and what they think town government can do to improve the quality of life in Montauk.  All three candidates, Mr. Cantwell for supervisor, Job Potter and Kathee Burke-Gonzalez for town board hope to tackle issues facing the Montauk community at the meeting like growth and coastal erosion.

“I look forward to hearing how we can strike the right balance between commercial uses, development, and residential life in Montauk, the home of year-round residents, second-homeowners, and a thriving tourist destination,” said Potter.

“We must understand how vulnerable we are from the impacts of coastal storms and plan smarter in the future to help protect Montauk,” said Burke-Gonzalez.

The Montauk Forum is the second in a series of hamlet “Listen Ins” that the Democratic Ticket will be holding throughout East Hampton during the course of this year’s election campaign. For more information visit
