Veterans Service Officer Available in Southampton Town

Posted on 26 November 2013

An accredited Suffolk County Veterans Service Officer able to assist Southampton Town veterans and their dependents in accessing veterans’ benefits is now available locally thanks to a collaboration between Suffolk County and Southampton Town.

Sheana Morris, a U.S. Army veteran and a Suffolk County employee, will be in the Southampton Town Clerk’s Annex in the Hampton Bays Community Center at 25 Ponquogue Avenue on Thursdays between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. She will assist with questions about and applications for pensions, compensation, tax exemptions, counseling, and aid and attendance — a reimbursement program that helps reduce home health costs.

Appointments are encouraged. Walk-ins are accepted if no other appointments have been scheduled. To make an appointment, call 723-3054 or 853 VETS.

For a complete list of Veteran’s benefits available through the Hauppauge offices such as filing DD-214 discharge papers and separation papers; assisting with appeals; community affairs-memorial services, dedications, ceremonies etc.; assisting Veteran Service Organizations; and referrals to other County, State & Federal agencies, visit suffolkcountyny.gov/veterans/benefits.
