Custom Cool “Barefoot Benefit” at Hayground

Posted on 30 August 2013

Custom Cool Rugs (customcoolrugs.com) will host its third annual “Barefoot Benefit in support of GoodWeave (goodweave.org) on Thursday, August 29 at The Hayground School in Bridgehampton. For the last two summers, the Custom Cool/GoodWeave benefit has been held the Thursday before Labor Day and have raised over $20,000 for the not-for-profit GoodWeave.

The Custom Cool rug raffle, which the company holds in conjunction with its benefit, has been a primary funding raising tool at the benefit. This year, the winner of the benefit raffle will get to pick from one of the hundreds of Custom Cool rug designs with the color and fiber selections customized just for them by Custom Cool Rug’s team of design professionals. All proceeds of the benefit go directly to GoodWeave in support of its tireless effort to end child labor in the textile industry and educate children rescued from the looms in Nepal, India and Afghanistan.

In addition to the Custom Cool raffle rug, the company will also present artwork by artists William Quigley, Warren Padula, Dan Rizzie and Kryn Olson woven into collectable rugs that will be auctioned off.

Custom Cool, with a design and manufacturing studio in Quogue and Main Street, Sag Harbor shop, supports ethical and sustainable manufacturing practices in all the products the firm makes around the world as well as close to home. This year, the company plans to begin fundraising efforts to support the local community by raising funds to help at risk tweens and teens on the East End. Towards this end and in partnership with other local sustainable and fair trade manufacturers and businesses, the Hayground School as well as Quigley, Padula, Rizzie and Olson, will join Custom Cool in auctioning off “rare and valuable Hamptons’ products.” The proceeds of this special auction will be used to support the creation of a vibrant youth group/venue that will benefit local teens with drug/alcohol dependencies.

The Barefoot Benefit will take place on Thursday, August 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hayground School in Bridgehampton. Ticket are $50 (and include one raffle ticket), $100 (two raffle tickets) or $150 (three raffle tickets and VIP gift bag).
