Philoso-Fit Opens in East Hampton

Posted on 02 May 2013

Just in time for the spring season, Philoso-Fit (philosofit.com), a new private, movement training studio on Lumber Lane in East Hampton in the DeSanti building, announced its grand opening earlier this month.

PhilosoFit is the creative vision of private fitness trainer, Ari Weller, a Sag Harbor resident. PhilosoFit’s methodology is based on a simple idea — build a better body by first building a solid movement base.

PhilosoFit manages the well-being of a wide variety of clients from elite athletes to mature adults who are dealing with the challenges of ageing.

At PhilosoFit trainers are referred to as movement specialists. They begin every client relationship with a detailed interview, a Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and muscle testing based on the work of Neurokineteic Therapy (NKT).

“We measure each client’s movement quality before we instruct them into movement quantity,” says Weller. “In other words, we’re concerned about your efficiency and what you can withstand. This information allows us to develop safe, customized training programs that help our clients re-establish authentic pain-free movement while changing their bodies.”

PhilosoFit uses a broad range of methodologies to do their work such as: Functional Strength training, Pilates, Gyrotonic, Neurokinetic Therapy, Ki-Hara Resistance Stretching and Heart Rate Variability Training.

The Pilates program will be run by East Hampton Pilates teacher, Melissa Roach. PhilosoFit will be the first East Hampton studio with multiple year- round certified Gyrotonic trainers.
