Edward Demarest Parkhouse, Jr.

Ned Parkhouse of Sag Harbor died on January 15, 2009. He grew up on a plantation named Stillwood on Liberty Bayou in New Orleans, LA and graduated from Tulane University there. He worked in New York as chief copywriter at Doubleday Publishing until he moved to Sag Harbor in 1979. At that time he opened an antique shop on Main Street. Eventually the shop evolved into a classical music store.

Ned’s passion was music. He composed and released two CDs of piano compositions while in his 80s. He loved to share his knowledge of music and demonstrate his Southern wit and charm. Ned was a true gentleman who will be long remembered by all who knew him.

His interment will take place on Saturday April 25 at 11 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation to your favorite charity.
