Cantwell Calls for Recycling at East Hampton Town Offices

Posted on 15 January 2014

East Hampton Town Supervisor Larry Cantwell last week announced that all East Hampton Town offices will start recycling paper products.

This green initiative stems from the first work session of the new town board on Tuesday, January 7, during which Cantwell, Deputy Town Supervisor Peter Van Scoyoc and council members Kathee Burke-Gonzalez, Sylvia Overby and Fred Overton discussed boosting public participation in recycling at the town’s recycling and sanitation facilities.

“The town needs to set an example,” Cantwell said afterward, noticing the lack of recycling bins in town hall. “If we ask our residents to increase their recycling efforts, the town must do so, as well.”

According to a press release issued by Cantwell’s office late last week, the goal is twofold: to help protect the environment and reduce the town’s garbage-disposal expenses.
