The Suffolk County District Attorney’s East End Drug Task Force announced the arrest of a Sagaponack resident on Wednesday on felony and misdemeanor criminal possession charges following the stake-out of a Hampton Jitney bus after police received a tip that a package containing suspected narcotics was in transit on a Hampton Jitney bound for the East End.
According to the district attorney’s office, the Jitney was headed to Bridgehampton, and the East End Drug Task Force worked in coordination with Southampton Town Police to set up surveillance on the bus and at the delivery location. When the bus arrived in Bridgehampton a subject later identified as Barton Mark Perlbinder, 71, of Sagaponack allegedly took delivery of the package, which police said contained quantities of Xanax, Oxycodone and cocaine. Mr. Perlbinder was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor, and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a class D misdemeanor and held overnight for arraignment. He was arraigned Thursday morning.
