East Hampton Police Investigate Apparent Drowning at Sammy’s Beach

East Hampton Town Police are investigating as an apparent drowning the death of James A. Weber, 45, of East Hampton at Sammy’s Beach on Sunday.

Police said two men at Maidstone Park, on the east side of the Three Mile Harbor inlet saw Mr. Weber collapse in the water on the west side of the inlet. Police said the two men swam across the inlet and pulled Mr. Weber from the water and began CPR until emergency workers arrived.

Mr. Weber was taken to Southampton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

East Hampton Town Police have asked anyone with information to call police at (631) 537-7575.
