Felony Robbery Charge Levied Against East Hampton Man

A 19-year-old East Hampton man arrested in connection with the robbery of a Springs liquor store was arraigned on Tuesday and released on $10,000 bail. John X. Tracy III was arraigned in East Hampton Town Justice Court on a charge of first degree robbery, a felony crime.

According to East Hampton Town Police, on Saturday, November 9 around 4:53 p.m. Tracy entered Springs Wine & Liquors on Springs Fireplace Road in East Hampton, confronted a clerk and threatened the use of a gun, although a gun was never actually brandished and no weapons were found on Tracy during his arrest. Police said after Tracy took $1,500 in cash from the register he fled the business on foot.

Tracy became a suspect in the case based on witness descriptions and video surveillance footage. He was arrested on Monday, November 11.
