Hampton Classic Postponed Due to Hurricane Irene

Posted on 26 August 2011

Who invited Irene anyway?

They’re up. No they’re down. The Hampton Classic Horse Show, for the first time in their 36 years, has had to drop the blue and white-striped tents and corrals at the Snake Hollow Road venue in Bridgehampton due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Irene.

Executive Director, Shannette Barth Cohen along with the other board members had to make the tough call. The tents are scheduled to rise again on Monday, August 29, with the opening day of the Classic rescheduled for Wednesday, August 31.

Since the week of competition has now been compressed from eight days  into five, Local Day events will be dispersed throughout the week as will other programs previously slated for August 28, 29 and 30. For up to date information on the Hampton Classic Horse Show, check out the Hampton Classic website at or call (631) 537-3177.

That’s a shame but a smart move. I hope everyone stays safe.

Any reports of what they’d do if power is out next week?

Out of the Netherlands we wish everybody will be safe and can ride next Wednesday!
