Hampton Library Budget Passes

On September 28 voters approved the proposed 2014 operating budget of the Hampton Library in Bridgehampton.

Two trustees were elected by the voters of Bridgehampton and one trustee was reelected in Sagaponack.

In the Bridgehampton district, the voters approved the budget 51 to 3. In Sagaponack, voters approved the budget with 24 votes in favor of the budget, and two against the spending plan.

Mary Lee, who ran uncontested, was elected as library trustee for a three-year term by Bridgehampton voters with 51 votes. Sandra Ferguson, who ran uncontested, was elected as library trustee for a three-year term by Bridgehampton voters with 50 votes.

The Honorable Bruce Kaplan, who ran uncontested, was unanimously elected as library trustee for a three-year term by the Sagaponack voters.

The library budget passed with over a 90 percent approval rating in each district. As part of the 2014 operating budget the Hampton Library will be increasing its operating hours until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The new hours will begin on Wednesday, November 13 with an open house celebration beginning at 7 p.m., the current closing time for the library.

 Library director, Kelly Harris and trustees of the Hampton Library said in a statement this week they would like to thank everyone who came to vote and for supporting the library.
