Marty’s Barbershop Immoratalized

Posted on 10 October 2012

There was never any doubt for anyone who lives in Sag Harbor that Marty’s Barbershop on Main Street is an institution, part of the fabric of village history never to be forgotten.

And now the building has been immortalized — albeit in miniature.

This week, Sag Harbor’s iconic toy store, the Wharf Shop, announced it has released the newest offering in it’s Sag Harbor Cat’s Meow Village buildings — Marty’s Barber Shop.

Marty Trunzo cut hair at this location from 1965 to 2011 when he turned down a number of generous rental offers in favor of keeping a hair styling business in the village. This week, Wharf Shop co-owner Gwen Waddington presented Trunzo with his own miniature Cat’s Meow model of one of Sag Harbor’s favorite businesses.

Marty’s Barbershop joins other Cat’s Meow village buildings at the Wharf Shop, including The Corner Bar, Sag Harbor Elementary School, the Sag Harbor Variety Store, The Sag Harbor Cinema, Bay Street Theatre and of course, The Sag Harbor Express, among many others.
