U.S. Representative Tim Bishop and West Hampton Dunes Mayor Gary Vegliante will join youth and parent volunteers from local schools and synagogues to sort through donated supplies and assemble backpacks for underprivileged children on the East at the UJA-Federation of New York’s annual “Supplies for Success” event on Thursday, August 28, at 11 a.m. The event will take place in the field house at the Ross School’s lower campus on Butter Lane in Bridgehampton.
Since 2002, the larger Supplies for Success initiative has worked to ensure that children in need on Long Island return to school with the tools they need to succeed. Over the past 13 years the program has grown from just 68 backpacks to last year, when the program provided filled backpacks to more than 5,000 disadvantaged children on Long Island. This year, organizers expect to fill over 6,000 backpacks which will be distributed through UJA-Federation beneficiary agencies, schools, and other local organizations.
