Kim Durham and Julika Wocial of the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation take measurements of a 58-foot long dead female Finback whale that washed up on the ocean shore in Amagansett onSunday morning, 1/13/13. Researchers believe the animal had been dead for at least a week or two, but planned to determine her actual cause of death by performing a necropsy the following day.
