Standing with their father, David, left, and their instructor, Nelson Duque, the brothers will compete this Saturday in the New York State Championships at Queens College, where victories in their respective divisions would send them to the national tournament this July in Chicago, Illinois. Richard, 9, and Osvaldo, 7, both train with Master Duque at his academy at Evolution Fitness in Southampton. Over the last 16 months, Richard won gold medals in sparring at five of the biggest tournaments on the east coast and has been encouraged to pursue a goal of becoming an Olympian.
