Oldak et al Take JY15 Contest

Posted on 30 July 2010

Testy weather made for an exciting day of races on Sunday for the JY 15 fleet out of Breakwater Yacht Club. An initial 10 knots from the west inevitably shifted south, only to swing north on the heels of threatening skies and 18 knots of gusty wind. Despite a drifting race committee boat and an eventual downpour, the sailors managed to get in four solid races with no throwout. Lee Oldak and crew took first, Mike Greshensen and Kevin Kovach won the tiebreaker for second, and Sara Nightingale and Bill Rizzi finished third.

Thunder and lightning rolled in Wednesday evening and cancelled the club’s summer series races.
