Pierson-Bridgehampton Falls in First Cross Country Meets

Posted on 14 September 2012

The Pierson-Bridgehamton boys and girls cross country teams started their league season on Tuesday, September 11 against Southold. For the first time in many years, the home league meet was held at Mashashimuet Park. In the past, “home” meets were held in Hampton Bays, Riverhead or Kings Park. The return to Sag Harbor provided an opportunity for the runners’ family and friends to come and watch the races close to home.

The results, however, were not as pleasant, as both teams lost to Southold, the boys falling, 38-22 and the girls, 35-22. Randy Santiago finished second overall in the boys meet, with Tiger Britt and Robert Rowinski also scoring well. For the girls, Elena Skerys was the overall winner with Sol Varela and Maya Buckner scoring well. The next home meet at Mashashimuet Park is Tuesday, September 24 against both McGann-Mercy and the Ross School at 4:30 p.m. The teams travel to Sunken Meadow in Kings Park for an invitational meet on Saturday, September 22.
