Pierson Runners Shine at State Meet

Four Pierson cross country runners, competing as part of a team from Suffolk County, posted their best times of the season at the New York State cross country championship in Queensbury, New York on Saturday.

Senior Tiger Britt finished 64th out of 120 runners with an impressive time of 17:53. The boys’ team from Section XI finished 9th out of 10 teams in the state.

For the girls, Hannah Jungck finished 76th out of 120 runners with a time of 22:16, a 54-second improvement over her best race. Senior Elena Skerys, racing for the final time in her four-year career, finished with a time of 23:16. Maya Buckner finished in 23:24 as the girls’ team as a whole finished 7th out of 10 teams in the state.
