Katy’s Courage To Run on Saturday

The third annual Katy’s Courage 5K will take place this Saturday, April 13, with registration running from 7 to 8:15 a.m. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. at 21 West Water Street in Sag Harbor Village. More than 1,000 participants between ages 4 to 87 are expected to compete, according to race organizers. Registration is $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the race.

The race is held each year to benefit the organization created in honor of Katy Stewart, an inspirational 12-year-old girl who passed away from a rare form of pediatric liver cancer in 2010. The organization raises funds to support children’s bereavement counseling, pediatric cancer research and local college scholarships.

The race will begin on Water Street and will head north before making a right onto Main Street, followed by a right onto Glover Street. The course will wind through Redwood and finish back on Water Street. Prizes include cash awards to the top three finishers plus an iPad Mini to one pre-registered participant.
