Both the boys and girls Ross/Pierson varsity track team competed at Center Moriches on Tuesday, April 3. The boys team lost 102–15, and the girls lost 99–38. Sydney McKie-Senior placed first in the 100 meters, the 200 meters and the Long Jump. Ajiah Jones won both the shot put and discus. Elena Skerys won the triple jump. Addison Cook placed second in both the 400 meter intermediate hurdles and the triple jump. After spring break, the team will travel to Port Jefferson for a meet on Tuesday, April 17.
After a rough start to the season, the Bonackers varsity lacrosse team from East Hampton/Bridgehampton/Pierson have captured their first win of the season. The 15-2 win came at the expense of the Southampton Mariners on Friday, March 30. Drew Harvey finished with four goals in the win, while Jimmy Wolf and Drew Griffiths both added three goals. The Bonackers (1-3) next plays on Tuesday, April 10 at 10:30 a.m. against Sayville.
The East Hampton/Bridgehampton/Pierson Bonackers varsity boys tennis team (2-3) is currently sitting in fifth place in League VII, after a loss to the West Hampton Hurricanes on Monday, April 2. The Hurricanes were able to take 6 of the 7 matches from the Bonackers. East Hampton next takes on Islip in a non-league game on Monday, April 16 at 4 p.m.
SYS Youth Basketball
The Southampton Youth Services youth basketball “March Madness” tournament took place this past weekend. William Floyd was named the 7th and 8th grade champion after beating Southampton in the finals.
