YMCA Coming to Mashashimuet Park

 

The East Hampton YMCA and Mashashimuet Park in Sag Harbor are uniting to bring great programs to the park for all ages, including arts and crafts, Karate, Yoga, Tai Chi, Zumba and more. To kick start the programs, join them on Friday, August 23 at Mashashimuet Park from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for a Zumba party.

The YMCA is also inviting everyone to bring suggestions for programs they would like to see at the park. Purchase tickets prior to the party for $20 at the East Hampton YMCA, or at the park the evening of the party for $25. For more information call Rosie at 329-6884.

 

Women’s Regatta at Breakwater

The Breakwater Yacht Club has announced that the annual JY15 Women at the Helm Regatta will take place on Sunday, September 8, in the waters off Havens Beach.

Now an integral part of the annual HarborFest weekend in Sag Harbor, the regatta is open to sailors of all genders, as long as the helmsperson is female.

There will be a skipper’s meeting at Breakwater Yacht Club at 2:30 p.m. The entry fee is $10 per boat, and Breakwater YC will provide boats for an additional $25. Breakwater membership is not required, though it is strongly encouraged. The JY15 is a two-person dinghy that is widely used for junior sailing programs as well as for racing.

Wednesday Night Sailing

Steve Kenny and Greg Ames sailed Gossip to victory in the Breakwater Yacht Club’s Wednesday Night Sailing Series on August 14. Kenny and Ames finished atop Division 1 with a corrected time of 1 hour 9 minutes and 21 seconds.

Cleo, captained by Ray Pepi, finished second with a time of 1:12:22 and Buckaroo, with Bruce Tait at the helm, finished third in 1:13:26

In Division 2, Swan’s Way, finished in first with Chris DiSunno as captain and a corrected time of 1:14:01. George Martin, aboard, Osprey, finished just 11 seconds behind for second place while Jody LoCascio sailed Boogie Van to a third place finish with a corrected time of 1:15:01.
