Hamptons Collegiate Baseball
On Tuesday, December 20 the HCBL announced they would be adding a seventh team, located on Shelter Island, to the league. Yet to be officially named, the Shelter Island team is the second new team to be added to the HCB this off-season, joining the Center Moriches Battlecats as newcomers in the summer 2012 season beginning this June. The final hurdle to the formation of the Shelter Island team was overcome on Monday when the Shelter Island High School allowed the team to use their fields for home games. The schedule for the upcoming season will be laid out in January, while player selections will commence in March.
Killer Bees Varsity Boys Basketball (0-5)
The Bees are stacked with talent, have a winning tradition and are being led by one of the most experienced coaches in the league. Even so they are five games into the season and are still without their first win. The Bridgehampton team traveled to Southampton to take part in a four team non-league tournament. In the first round the Killer Bees lost to the Southampton Mariners 64-73, this despite another monster 30-point game from Caanan Campbell. Jason Hopson and Josh Lamison contributed as well, with 12 and 9 points in the game respectively. The Bees took on the Dalton Tigers in the consolation round of the tournament where they were beaten again, this time 64-34. Bridgehampton doesn’t have a game until after the winter break, and between that time and now will have to figure out how to turn their individual pieces into a winning team.
