Two From Pierson at XC States

Posted on 14 November 2009

Pierson cross-country stand-outs Keriann FitzPatrick and Kyle Fletcher will be upstate in Plattsburgh on Saturday competing in the 2009 New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships. Conditions there are expected to be ideal for running and somewhat temperate for northern New York this time of year, with lows in the 40s and highs in the mid-50s.

FitzPatrick and her Lady Whaler teammates were denied a third consecutive county Class D championship last Saturday, coming in behind Stony Brook and Port Jefferson. Their coach, Jim Kinnier, said afterwards he was “as proud of his team as he could be. Even though we lost, it was a great season. We had originally lost to Stony Brook by 18 points back in September. To lose by six [on Saturday] showed how much improvement we made.”

The Whaler runners leave today, joining the rest of the qualifiers from Suffolk County for the long ride north.
