YMCA Hurricanes Excel in Pool

Sag Harbor fifth-grader Catalina Badilla, a member of the YMCA Hurricanes swim team, competed in the Easter Zone All Star Championships in Rochester over the weekend, and was a member of the third-place 200-yard freestyle relay team. She also swam the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in tenth place with a time of 6:00.01.

East Hampton’s Chasen Dubs, 12, was the only other Hurricanes swimmer to qualify for the meet, which is one of the highest level age-group competitions in the country. Dubs earned a second place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.87 seconds, was sixth in the 100 freestyle (53.19), eleventh in the 100 individual medley and also competed on the winning 400 and 200 freestyle relay teams.
