Alexander S. Wenski

Alexander S. Wenski, age 85, formerly of Sag Harbor, died November 4, 2008 in Penn Yan, N.Y. His memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Church, Sag Harbor. His nephew Bishop Thomas Wenski of Orlando, Fla., will celebrate the Mass.

Interment will be at St. Andrew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sag Harbor Fire Department, or the Sag Harbor Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

 

James Donald Weatherell

James Donald Weatherell a resident of Sag Harbor for 55 years, died at Southampton Hospital on March 21. He was 85 years old.

Born on Yonkers, N.Y. on November 11, 1923, he was the son of Albert and Mary Anne (Stewart) Weatherell.

Mr. Weatherell was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the American Legion.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Elizabeth Lomas, in 1989, and a son, Kenneth Weatherell. He was also predeceased by siblings Albert Weatherell and Jane Zentgraf, both of Sag Harbor. He is survived by a son, Bruce A. Weatherell and two grandchildren, Kendra and Ciara Weatherell.

Services were held on Tuesday, March 24, at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor, the Rev. Tom Schacher officiating.

Interment was at Oakland Cemetery.

 

Mona D. Behrens

Mona D. Behrens, formerly of Sag Harbor and Rosedale, Queens, died in Palm Beach, Fla., on Saturday, March 21. She was 89.

Born in Jersey City, N.J. on May 21, 1919, she worked as a secretary in New York City and at Radio Station WLNG in Sag Harbor.

She was predeceased by her husband Harold W. Behrens in 1988.

Services will be held Friday, March 27, at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor from 7 to 9 p.m. Prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday morning at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery.

Matilda E. Hager

Matilda E. Hager, formerly of Sag Harbor, died at Carillon Nursing Home in Huntington, L.I. on Wednesday, November 19. She was 96 years old.

Born in the Bronx, N.Y., on June 26, 1912, she was the daughter of Joseph and Caroline (Betz) Miller.

Mrs. Hager attended St. Barnabas High School in the Bronx and Grace Institute, New York City.

Mrs. Hager was predeceased in 1976 by her husband, Frank J. Hager.

She was also predeceased by siblings Agnes (Sr. Miriam Caroline), William, Joseph, Frances Pierce, and Rev. Frederick Miller.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Marino of Sag Harbor, F. Laurence Hager of Florida and Susan Holden of Huntington.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mass was held at St. Andrew RC Church in Sag Harbor on Saturday, November 22, with interment at St. Andrew Cemetery.

The family asks that memorial donations be sent to the St. Andrew Church Restoration Building Fund.

 

Alexander S. Wenski

Alexander S. Wenski, formerly of Sag Harbor, died November 4 in Penn Yan, N.Y. He was 85 years old.

Mr. Wenski served with the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946 aboard the USS Bennington. He worked for many years at Grumman Aerospace in Calverton, and enjoyed fishing and boating in the Sag Harbor area.

Mr. Wenski is survived by two daughters, Denise (Jerome) Jose of Keuka Park, N.Y., and Alexis (Mark) Roberts of Owego, N.Y. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Alexander and Alyona Roberts; two sisters, Alice Bill of Noyac and Mary Freeborn of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Cecelia Wenski in 2001.

A memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew R.C. Church in Sag Harbor. His nephew, Bishop Thomas Wenski of Orlando, Fla., will celebrate the Mass. Interment will be at St. Andrew Cemetery.
