Josh Lamison and Matt Hostetter scored 21 points apiece and Charles Manning added 18 as the Bridgehampton boys basketball team picked up its second statement win of the season on Friday, a 77-50 thrashing of the rival Pierson Whalers.

Lady Whalers Basketball Knock Off East Hampton

It was a good week for Pierson basketball on Coach Petrie Court, which is named for the legendary East Hampton coach who also carries a bit of Whalers history in his heart.

Three days after the boys team knocked off the host Bonackers, the Lady Whalers traveled to East Hampton and left town with a convincing 39-22 victory.

Colman Vila was one of the most dominant pitchers in New York State during his senior season at Pierson High School in 2013, the year he led the Whalers to the Class C Final Four while posting a 0.00 ERA, a state record that can never be broken.

Vila enrolled at the University of Delaware last fall and suddenly was no longer a big fish in a small pond. He worked out with the team during a red-shirt freshman year, but did not make the roster, which means he still had four years of eligibility remaining. After this fall’s practice season, however, all signs point to Vila making the varsity roster as a lefty out of the bullpen.
